UP Police Recruitment: Will Recruitment Be Outsourced? Here's What DGP Said About the Viral Letter

The recruitment drive for fourth-class employees has been ongoing, and a letter related to this was supposed to be issued, but it was mistakenly issued for ministerial staff.

The UP Police has issued a clarification regarding the viral letter about recruitment for some positions in the Uttar Pradesh Police department. In a statement released late Wednesday night, the police said that the recruitment drive for fourth-class employees has been ongoing. However, a letter was mistakenly issued for ministerial staff instead of fourth-class employees, and this letter has now been canceled. The police confirmed that there is no such proposal under consideration at the police department or government level.

The viral letter stated that consideration is being given to outsourcing recruitment for certain positions in UP Police.

Upon noticing the issue gaining traction, DGP Prashant Kumar addressed the media and clarified the matter. Prashant Kumar said that a letter regarding recruitment through outsourcing in the police department was circulating on social media. This letter was issued due to an administrative error.

The DGP mentioned that outsourcing arrangements for fourth-category employees in the police department have been ongoing. The letter was intended to be issued in this context but was mistakenly issued for ministerial staff. There is no such proposal under consideration at the police department and government levels. The letter was released inadvertently and has since been cancelled.

The recruitment drive according to the viral letter included positions like Assistant Sub-Inspector Clerk, Assistant Sub-Inspector Accounts, and Assistant Sub-Inspector Confidential, with applications open till June 17, 2024. The letter was issued by Deputy Inspector General of Police (Establishment) Prabhakar Chaudhary. Somehow, this letter became public on Wednesday night. When it came to light, opposition leaders and young people started sharing it across various social media platforms.

Following the clarification issued by the police department, Samajwadi Party leader and newly elected MP from Ambedkar Nagar, Lalji Verma, reacted on X.

He said that the strong opposition raised by all Samajwadi Party members against "Recruitment in Uttar Pradesh Police" led to the police issuing a clarification, stating that the letter was issued by mistake. He questioned if such an important decision could really be a mistake and suggested staying alert, as they might turn the police into Agniveers at any time. The Samajwadi leader wrote that after the protest by Samajwadi Party members, the Uttar Pradesh Police has withdrawn the letter.
