Not A Single Allegation Of Corruption In Lakhs Of Government Jobs Given To Youths: Assam CM

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that lakhs of youths have been given government jobs without corruption, highlighting the transparency and inclusivity of the recruitment process.

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said that lakhs of youths have been given government jobs in the state without a single allegation of corruption, as reported by news agency PTI.

Sarma highlighted the transparency, cleanliness, and inclusivity of the entire recruitment process during the first passing-out parade of the Assam Forest Protection Force (AFPF) at Dergaon.

"During the Congress rule, an entire qualitative generation of Assam was deprived of government jobs," he alleged.

Sarma shared his analysis, revealing that "from 2001-2004, around 30-35 percent of recruitments in Assam Police were from a particular community."

He emphasised that the current Assam government recruits inclusively from all religions, castes, and communities in both the police and forest guard forces.

Sarma urged the newly inducted 940 recruits to perform their duties with utmost sincerity in safeguarding wildlife and wished them success in their new roles.

"In Assam, we have over 26,800 sq km of forests, housing diverse wildlife which we must protect from illegal activities. I urge our Forest Protection Force to rise to the occasion and protect our forests," Sarma added.

With the induction of 940 new constables, the strength of the Assam Forest Protection Force has more than doubled.

"Besides more force to fight encroachers and poachers, it is heartening to note that 10 percent of the new recruits are women," he said.

The total strength of AFPF has increased to 1,724 from the previous 784, with around 90 of the 940 constables being women.

The third battalion will be comprised of the new recruits, Sarma added.
