NEET PG 2021 Exam Postponed! Dr. Harsh Vardhan Announces Decision Amid Covid Crisis

New Delhi: The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for post-graduate students that was scheduled to be held on April 18, has been postponed because of the rising Covid-19 cases, Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan informed on Thursday.

"In light of the surge in Covid-19 cases, GoI has decided to postpone the  NEET PG 2021 exam which was earlier scheduled to be held on Apr 18. Next date to be decided later. Decision has been taken keeping wellbeing of our young medical students in mind," Dr. Harsh Vardhan wrote in his tweet.

In a follow-up tweet, the Union Health Minister shared the order while writing: "Health & safety of our young doctors is paramount. Next date to be decided after reviewing the situation later".

Earlier, a group of doctors had moved to the Supreme Court seeking NEET's postponement. The doctors contended that the candidates appearing in the exam are doctors treating Coronavirus patients on a daily basis.

Previously, students of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) were given relief as the Class 10 board exams were cancelled while class 12 examinations postponed after Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday discussed the concerns in a meeting with Education Minister, Secretary and other important officials.

 CBSE Class 12 exams will be held later, CBSE will review the situation on June 1. As for Class 10, students will be promoted on basis of internal assessment. If a student is not satisfied with the assessment then he/she can appear for the examination once the situation is normal.
