Maharashtra HSC Exams to be Held After April 15, SSC After May 1

The Maharashtra Education minister has announced a tentative timeline for HSC and SSC exams in the state.

New Delhi: Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad said that the higher secondary certificate (HSC) exams are likely to be held after April 15, while the secondary school certificate (SSC) will be held post-May 1. On Sunday, Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad indicated that the HSC exams will be conducted after April 15, 2021, whereas the SSC will be conducted on post-May 1, 2021, tentatively. The exams are usually held in February and March which have to be postponed due to the ongoing pandemic. ALSO READ: HPBOSE Exams 2021: Himachal Pradesh To Conduct Class 10, 12 Board Exams From May 4, Practicals To Begin From April 15 Gaikwad had also stated that that exam cannot be held later than the first week of May 2021 due to extreme climate conditions in Maharashtra followed by the monsoon season in the month of June. Though the board is currently accepting the registration forms for HSC and SSC exams, it is expected to give more clarity on the nature of exams in the days to come. Earlier, the board had announced a 25% reduction in the syllabus for Class 1 to Class 12. A formal datesheet and regulations will be announced in the coming days by the Maharashtra State Board. The education minister also tweeted that there might be a possibility of reopening schools for students of classes 5 to 8. According to a Mumbai Mirror article, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced that schools will remain shut until January 15, 2021. Hence, classes will continue online as per usual.
