Maharashtra CET 2021: The Bombay High Court has instructed the state government to complete the admission process of class 11 in six weeks on the basis of class 10 and internal assessment.
Maharashtra CET 2021: The Bombay High Court has canceled the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the Maharashtra government for admission to junior colleges and instructed the state government to complete the admission process in six weeks on the basis of class 10 and internal assessment. It means, there is no need to give any entrance exam for admission to FYJC or class XI.
It is notifying that the Maharashtra government had issued a proposal on 28 may, to hold CET in physical mode across the state for admission to junior colleges.
A bench of Justices Rd Dhanuka and Riaz Chagla canceled may GR saying, "The state government does not have the power under the law to issue such notification and this court can intervene in such utter injustice." The court also said that even if a petition challenging the notification has not been filed, but this is a suitable matter for the court to take suo moto cognizance. The bench in its order said, "If CET is allowed to be held during Covid-19, a large number of students' lives may be threatened."
The court then canceled the notification issued by the government on 28 may in which it was written that a CET would be held for all class 10 students on all boards on the basis of which they would be able to choose their preferred college while enrolling in Class XI.
The high court has asked the state government to issue a new notification for the admission process in junior colleges within 48 hours. At the same time, Judges have asked the government to start the admission process on the basis of the marks obtained in Class 10 and Internal Evaluation and complete it within six weeks.
