Delhi University Tops Among Indian Varsities In QS Sustainability Rankings 2024
A total of 9 universities have bagged a spot in the ‘Top 500’ of the QS Sustainability Rankings 2024.
The Delhi University has outshined other varsities, bagging the top spot in QS Sustainability Rankings 2024 among Indian universities. In the overall QS Rankings 2024, the Delhi University sits at Rank 220. The QS Sustainability Rankings is aimed at looking into the efforts and commitment of universities across the globe towards a sustainable existence. The sustainability rankings evaluate universities across three key metrics which include Environmental Impact, Social Impact and Governance.
Notably, in the QS Sustainability Rankings 2024, a total of 9 Indian Universities have made it to the ‘Top 500’ list. Among Indian universities, the Delhi University is followed by IIT Bombay at Rank 303, IIT Madras at 344, IIT Kharagpur at 349, IIT Roorkee at 387, IIT Delhi at 426, BITS Pilani at 444, VIT Vellore at 449, and Anna University at 496.
In the QS Sustainability Rankings 2024, the Indian IInstitute of Science (IISc) Bangalore follows Anna University at the 505th position. Other Indian Universities which feature in the 500-700 bracket among the list include IIT Kanpur, JNU, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences, Jadavpur University, Aligarh Muslim University, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Amity University Noida, Lovely Professional University, NIT Rourkela, and IIT BHU.
Notably, the ‘QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2024,’ is the first ranking edition of its kind by QS (Quacquarelli Symonds). The rankings reflect the environmental sustainability performance of higher education institutions across the globe. In its first edition, the QS Sustainability Rankings rated a total of 1,397 higher education institutions across the globe, spanning across 95 countries. In the QS University Rankings for Sustainability, a total of 56 Indian Higher Education Institutions have been featured.
Among global institutions, the University of Toronto bagged the top spot claiming the title of the most sustainable varsity in the world. The University of Toronto is followed by University of California, Berkeley (UCB), University of Manchester, University of British Columbia, The University of Auckland, Imperial College London, The University of Sydney, Lund University, The University of Melbourne, and Western University Canada, in the Top 10 Most Sustainable Universities 2024 rankings.
