Delhi: Tukmirpur Govt School Student Lands In Hospital After Teacher Slaps Him

A 12-year-old student at a government school in Delhi's Tukmirpur area was hospitalised after his teacher allegedly slapped and pressed his neck.

A student of class 6th at a government school in northeast Delhi’s Tukmirpur area was hospitalised after a teacher allegedly slapped him for forgetting to bring his Hindi textbook, said the police on Thursday. According to a senior police officer, the police received information from GTB Hospital on Saturday about a 12-year-old boy who was admitted after being beaten by his school teacher on August 7, as per a PTI report, adding a case was registered against the teacher based on a complaint by the boy’s father.

The accused Sadul Hasan was booked under Sections 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint) and 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code on the complaint by the boy's father on Saturday at Dayalpur police station, the officer said, the report added.

As per the report, the boy had forgotten to bring his Hindi textbook to school which angered the teacher. As the boy was walking out of the classroom, Hasan stopped him from leaving and slapped him, said the police, adding that he also allegedly pressed the victim’s neck.

Later the boy was admitted to the hospital as his condition worsened and his father approached the police. The teacher was soon arrested, but was let off shortly after on bail, the police said, adding further investigation was underway in the matter.

The boy has Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), the police added, a rare neurological disorder in which the immune system mistakenly attacks part of the peripheral nervous system – the network of nerves located outside of the brain and spinal cord.

In July this year, two teachers of a private school were booked in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior after a 12-year-old boy died allegedly due to their assault for not completing his homework, as per an ANI report.

The boy was studying in Class 8 in a private school located in Bahodapur area in the district. According to the family members, the boy was beaten up by the teachers in the school a few days ago following which he was seriously injured. They (family members) admitted him to the hospital but he died undergoing treatment on Sunday (July 16).
