Shraddha Murder Case — Delhi Police Drafts 3,000-Page Chargesheet Listing 100 Witnesses: Report

As per the report, the chargesheet has listed 100 witnesses apart from electronic and forensic evidence and is likely to be submitted by the end of January.

New Delhi: The Delhi Police has drafted a 3,000-page chargesheet against Aftab Amin Poonawala, accused of murdering his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar and chopping off the corpse into 35 pieces, reported news agency ANI quoting Delhi Police sources.  As per the report, the chargesheet has listed 100 witnesses apart from electronic and forensic evidence and is likely to be submitted by the end of January.

A mitochondrial DNA report of the samples found in the forest area of Mehrauli and sent for testing at the Centre for DNA Fingerprinting Diagnostic (CDFD) in Hyderabad matched with that of the victim's father and brother, the Delhi Police said.

Earlier this month, an autopsy report revealed a saw was used to cut up the bones of Shraddha Walkar after a post-mortem analysis was conducted in All India Institute of Medical Sciences in the national capital.

Shraddha Walkar's father, Vikas Walkar met Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday and informed him about the lack of progress in the Special Investigation Team probes into the murder case of his daughter.

The Maharashtra government had ensured setting up an SIT to investigate the police personnel who were negligent in the Shraddha case, however, no action has been taken in this matter so far. Vikas Walkar met the Chief Minister at the latter's residence Varsha bungalow in Mumbai.

There was a demand for an inquiry into the role of the Tulinj police and Manikpur police. The government had given assurance of investigation by forming SIT, but till now neither SIT has been formed nor action has been taken, this is the allegation of Vikas Walkar.

Aftab Amin Poonawala had killed his live-in partner, who he met on dating app 'Bumble', last year in May. He was arrested by Delhi Police in October and underwent polygraph test and narco analysis.
