Delhi: Woman Shot Dead By Daughter's Lover For Opposing Relationship In Jahangirpuri
A minor shot a woman who opposed a relationship between him and her daughter in Delhi's Jahangirpuri.
A woman was shot dead allegedly by a minor boy in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri area of northwest Delhi on Friday, as she “opposed a relationship between him and her daughter”. According to PTI, police said that the minor was in a relationship with the daughter of the deceased.
A senior police officer said that the accused was not alone while committing this horrific act, as two of his friends were with him when he procured a pistol and allegedly shot the victim.
The police reported that a purported video emerged on social media which claimed that a day before the murder, the minor had shared a photo of the pistol and bullets on his WhatsApp status.
The minor went to the woman’s house to talk to her, on Friday afternoon when she was alone and shot her dead when she refused to speak to him, according to an India Today report. He soon fled the scene. She was rushed to the Babu Jagjivan Ram hospital, but she was declared dead. Some sources told India Today, that the boy and the girl were planning on running away together.
As per the report, the family of the woman claimed that the accused used to stalk the girl where whenever she would go for tuition. When the girl informed her family, they filed a police report. However, the authorities did not take any strict action and the girl continued to be harassed by the boy. In a last-ditch effort, the family sent away the girl to a hostel.
In The Times Of India, it was reported that while conducting raids to capture the accused, they came across CCTV footage which was analysed to track their movement.
The minor was identified and teams were informed to apprehend him, as per PTI. The senior police official said a case was registered under relevant sections.
