Two Delhi Traffic Personnel Dragged 20 Meters In Hit-and-Run Incident, Video Surfaces

Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) Pramod and Head Constable Sailesh Chouhan are conscious and stable. Police have since identified the vehicle owner.

Two Delhi traffic police officers were allegedly hit and dragged in a hit-and-run incident about 20 meters by a car while on duty in southwest Delhi, according to a police official. The incident reportedly took place around 7:45 p.m. on Saturday near the Ber Sarai traffic light on Vedant Deshika Marg.

"The injuries sustained by ASI Pramod and Head Constable Sailesh were reported to be minor. But the intention was to kill them. A case under attempt to murder and obstruction in the discharge of official duty and charges for endangering the lives of the public has been registered," the officer told news agency PTI.

"A PCR call was received at the Kishan Garh police station stating that an unknown vehicle had hit traffic officers on duty and fled the scene," he also said.

Police Team Rush To Spot

He added that a team was immediately dispatched to the spot and it was discovered that the injured police personnel had been rushed to Safdarjung Hospital with the help of a PCR van.

When the team reached the hospital, Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) Pramod and Head Constable Sailesh Chouhan were found to be conscious and stable, the officer said.

According to their statements, the officers were conducting routine checks for traffic violations when, at around 7:45 p.m., a vehicle ran a red light. Sailesh signaled the driver to stop, and although the driver initially complied, he then attempted to flee, dragging both officers approximately 20 meters before speeding off. Police have since identified the vehicle owner and will be arrested soon.

Traffic Cop Dragged Over 100 Metres 

Similarly, during a routine traffic check in Shivamogga, Karnataka a police constable was dragged for over 100 metres on the bonnet of a moving car. The incident took place near Sahyadri College around 2 PM on October 25, involving a traffic officer named Prabhu and a driver identified as Mithun.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident began when traffic police were conducting vehicle inspections in the area. Officer Prabhu gave his signal a car to stop for a routine check, but the driver allegedly responded aggressively and tried to escape the officer. An onlooker who recorded the incident captured the shocking moment when the driver accelerated while Prabhu was on the car’s bonnet.

Despite the attempts of the officer to stop the vehicle, Mithun kept driving for over 100 meters before finally coming to a halt. The officer was fortunate to escape without severe injuries.
