Mumbai Train Five Passengers Fall Off Train, Injured
Five passengers fell off the overcrowded Pushpak Express near Kalyan Junction, likely due to jostling as the train slowed.

Five passengers on a Mumbai train fell on the tracks and suffered injuries. Initially, it was reported that the passengers were on the Mumbai-Lucknow Pushpak Express. However, later it was found that the Pushpak Express was only nearby and was not involved in the incident.
It is suspected that as one of the trains slowed, commuters jostled for space. It was during this jostling that the passengers fell from the train. There was a lot of crowd on the train, due to which these passengers were travelling by hanging on the door of the train. The condition of the passengers is not known yet.

The accident reportedly occurred between the Diva and Kopar stations when the passengers fell and were struck by another local train coming on the other track.
Similar Accident On Pushpak Express In January
The Mumbai-Lucknow Pushpak Express was in the news in January this year because of a similar accident. On January 22, 2025, rumours sparked panic on the train and the chain was pulled on the Pushpak Express. Scared by rumours of a fire onboard, passengers leapt from the stopped train, only to be struck by the oncoming Karnataka Express on the adjacent track.
Among the deceased are nine men and four women, confirmed Dr. Vijay Gaikwad, medical superintendent at Jalgaon Government Medical College and Hospital.
The incident unfolded rapidly. Following the emergency halt triggered by chain-pulling, some passengers reportedly mistook smoke, possibly from the engine or surroundings, for signs of a fire. In the ensuing panic, several jumped off the train in an attempt to escape. The Karnataka Express was speeding through a nearby track at the same time. Due to a curve in the tracks, visibility was severely limited, leaving the driver with no time to react.
Railway officials later confirmed that the track curvature likely played a critical role in the accident, making it difficult for the Karnataka Express locomotive pilot to spot the individuals on the tracks in time to stop.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced ₹5 lakh for the families of the deceased. The Railway Board also issued ex gratia payments of ₹1.5 lakh.
