'RSS Invading Like Rats, Destroying Jharkhand': Hemant Soren Accuses BJP Of Disrupting Communal Harmony

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren alleged that the BJP is trying to bring hatred between communities, predicting an increase in provocative acts such as placing meat in temples and mosques.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren attacked the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Wednesday, comparing it to "rats" and accused both the BJP and RSS of attempting to disrupt communal harmony in the state for electoral benefits.

Speaking during a virtual rally in Bhognadih, Sahibganj, Soren alleged that the BJP is deliberately creating a rift between Hindus and Muslims, citing the involvement of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

"RSS is invading the state like rats and destroying it. Chase such forces away when you see them entering your villages with 'handia' and 'daru' (locally brewed liquor)...They want to create communal disturbances and tension ahead of elections for political gains," Soren said, as per news agency PTI.

Soren further alleged that the BJP is trying to bring hatred between communities, predicting an increase in provocative acts such as placing meat in temples and mosques.

Soren described the BJP as a party of businessmen and industrialists, accusing it of manipulating political leaders for its purposes. He was referring to former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren, who recently joined the BJP, claiming disrespect from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).

Chief Minister Dismiss Claims On Demographic Changes In Jharkhand

The Chief Minister dismissed BJP claims about demographic changes in Jharkhand, suggesting critics should examine demographic data in neighbouring West Bengal instead. He also lashed out at the Assam Chief Minister, questioning his presence in Jharkhand while tribals in his state face numerous atrocities.

"They talk about spoiling the demography and Bangladeshi intruders. I would like to tell them to go and get the data from the Centre and see in which district and in which state it has changed. They don't like places where people live in peace and harmony. They cook their political plans and conspiracies ignited by them. You need to identify them and show them their worth," he said.

Highlighting the development efforts of the JMM government, Soren compared it to the previous BJP administration, which allocated only Rs 600 crore to self-help groups (SHGs). His government, he claimed, has provided Rs 10,000 crore in four years through bank credit linkages to support women's self-reliance.

"This year's Aapki Yojana, Aapki Sarkar, Aapke Dwar programme is concluding today. We started it in 2021 from the brave land of Lord Birsa Munda, Ulihatu, and today it is concluding from the brave land of Sido-Kanhu, Phoolo Jhano and Chand Bhairav," he said.

Soren expressed gratitude for the community's support, stating, "Your blessings give us strength to fight against our opponents. The BJP has left no stone unturned to create obstacles in our work. Recently, many BJP chief ministers have come to this state. Assam Chief Minister is in Jharkhand. They have not given tribal status to the tribals of our state in Assam."

"Our tribal brothers and sisters have not been given rights there. They have been left to die of hunger. Tell us, why the tribal families of Jharkhand are not being given their rights? Why are we not being given the tribal religion code?" he said, PTI reported.
