Bihar Woman 'Elopes With Nephew', Takes Children Too. Husband Files Complaint

A Bihar man reported his wife for eloping with her nephew and taking their children. The wife claims her nephew fathered the children.

A man filed a complaint against his wife after she allegedly eloped with her nephew, taking their children along. The incident from Bihar’s Motihari came to light when Chunmun Ram, who works as a labourer in Bengaluru, returned home and discovered that his wife had fled with their children.

However, the woman, Manisha Kumari, has claimed that her children were fathered by her nephew and not her husband.

Eloped On Holi

On April 22, 2014, Chunmun Ram, 35, a resident of Dathi village under Harsiddhi police station, married Manisha Kumari, 30, from Rampurwa, also in the Harsiddhi police station area. Following his father’s death in 2017, he moved to Bengaluru for work. He spent most of his time out of town to work but would visit home whenever possible.

Reportedly, the 30-year-old woman eloped with her nephew, Akash Kumar, on Friday, March 14, following which Chunmun Ram filed the complaint and an FIR was lodged.

According to Chunmun’s account, initially, he didn’t suspect anything. However, that changed in 2024, when he saw his wife and the 18-year-old nephew together. After this, he sent his wife Manisha to her maternal home before leaving for Bengaluru himself.

It was learnt that Akash is also a resident of the woman's maternal village.

Chunmun Ram Seeks Protection

Countering Chunmun Ram’s complaint, Manisha Kumari, on March 17 called DIAL 112 of Harsiddhi police station and told them about the father of her children, she also told them that she would not return her children to her husband. Additionally, Akash Kumar’s family is now threatening to pursue a case against Chunmun Ram.

He has also sought protection, claiming that Akash Kumar’s family is threatening him to withdraw the case. Harsiddhi police station in-charge Sarvendra Kumar Sinha stated that an FIR has been registered based on Chunmun Ram's written complaint, and an investigation is underway.
