'Raised Law And Order Issue But Was Attacked Instead': Arvind Kejriwal Blames Amit Shah

AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal accused the BJP government of orchestrating an attack on him.

Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government for the attack that was made on him the previous day.

He alleged that he had raised the issue of law and order and expected action over it by Union Home Minister Amit Shah but instead, an attack was orchestrated against him during his November 30 padayatra in Malviya Nagar.

Speaking at a press conference, the former Delhi CM said, "The liquid thrown on me was harmless, but it could have been dangerous. This is the third attack on me in the last 35 days." He also accused Amit Shah of sending the message that complainants, rather than offenders, will face arrest.

On Saturday, a man splashed a sort of liquid on Kejriwal during his 'padayatra' in south Delhi's Malviya Nagar.

While the AAP claimed that it was spirit and the "attacker" wanted to set the party supremo afire, the police said it was water that was thrown at Kejriwal.

Delhi Chief Minister claimed that the accused was a worker of the Bharatiya Janata Party but the saffron party strongly refuted the claim.

The accused was identified as Ashok Jha who was serving as a bus marshal at Delhi Transport Corporation's Khanpur Depot and was detained after the attack, according to the police.

"Further examination of the person is in progress to find out the reasons behind this act," a statement from the Delhi Police stated.

Jha (41) was reportedly frustrated as he was not getting his salary for the past six months, reported PTI quoting sources.

The attack took place when the AAP national convener was holding the padayatra in the Savitri Nagar area that falls under the Greater Kailash assembly segment.
