IEW 2025: From HPCL And Boeing To ONGC Videsh And Petrobras, A Look At Major Deals Signed

ONGC Videsh Ltd and Petrobras inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collectively participate in upstream oil and gas projects in Brazil, India, and other countries.

The India Energy Week 2025 concluded on Friday. Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, addressed the closing ceremony of the exhibition and noted that the event exceeded all expectations, encompassing a variety of sectors including biofuel, green energy, natural gas, petroleum, and CBG.

The minister pointed out that the India Energy Week established itself as the second-largest energy platform in the country and the fourth edition of the exhibition is scheduled to take place in Goa next year.

Further, prominent deals were inked between global and domestic players in the energy sector, aiming towards building a sustainable future providing equal access to energy for all. Let's take a look at some of the major deals signed in the IEW 2025.

ONGC Videsh and Petrobras

ONGC Videsh Ltd and Petrobras inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collectively participate in upstream oil and gas projects in Brazil, India, and other countries. The project will see the companies looking for opportunities in trading, low-carbon solutions and digitalisation. Both the companies also signed an agreement for hydrocarbon exploration in the deep and ultra-deep offshare basins in India under the Hydrocarbon Exploration and Licensing Policy.

BPCL Signs MoU With Eco Wave Power

BPCL signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Eco Wave Power, Israel to develop the first wave energy pilot project in India at the India Energy Week 2025. The project will focus on harnessing the wave energy potential in the country and use it as a sustainable and commercially viable renewable energy resource. The pilot installation of 100 kW will be in Mumbai and will make use of Eco Wave Power’s proven wave energy conversion technology. This will be a crucial step towards innovative clean energy solutions. 

Notably, BPCL also signed an MoU with the National Sugar Institute, Kanpur to expand the sweet sorghum-based bioethanol production and provide training for farmers and industry stakeholders. The company also entered into an agreement with Equinor India Pvt Ltd to purchase LPG (propane and butane).

HPCL Inks MoU With Boeing

HPCL and Boeing also came together to help make the sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) ecosystem in the country stronger. The companies inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to ‘Advance India’s Sustainable Aviation Fuel Ecosystem’. The agreement was signed by Rajesh Mehtani, ED - Aviation, HPCL and Salil Gupte, President, Boeing India and South Asia.

The Indian firm noted, “This collaboration with Boeing will drive technological advancements, advocate supportive policies, and promote industry-wide SAF adoption, reinforcing India’s commitment to carbon reduction and green energy solutions. Together, we take a significant step toward minimising the environmental impact of air travel and fostering a robust SAF ecosystem in the country.”

BPCL Signs Contract With TotalEnergies

BPCL entered into a strategic term contract with TotalEnergies Trading Asia for the supply of Middle Eastern crude from April 2025 to March 2026. The agreement focused on enhancing BPCL's energy security and strengthening the supply chain resilience.

ADNOC and IOCL

IOCL (IndianOil Corporation) and ADNOC (UAE) signed a contract worth $7 million to source 1.2 million metric tonne per annum LNG for 14 years starting 2026. The deal aims to help advance the shift of Indian economy to a natural-gas based economy. Both the companies also entered a 5-year LNG off-take agreement for 2.4 MMT, with an option to extend for another five years.
