As Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman got the cabinet nod for Union Budget 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said this budget focuses on "poor, young, farmers, and women empowerment." Sources informed ABP News, that PM Modi told his cabinet colleagues that this budget is for the common man, addressing the aspirations of the poor, farmers, women, and youth. The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday, approved the Union Budget 2025-26.
Following the approval, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is all set to present her record eighth Budget in the Lok Sabha. This comes against the backdrop of economic growth slowing to a four-year low of 6.4% and rising demands for tax relief amid moderation in consumption. This marks the second Budget of the BJP-led NDA government in its third consecutive term.
Tradition Of Change: The 'Bahi-Khata' And A Paperless Budget
Sitharaman, in her first Budget in 2019, replaced the traditional leather briefcase —used for decades to carry Budget documents—with a 'Bahi-Khata' wrapped in red cloth, symbolizing India's heritage. Like the last three years, Budget 2025-26 will also be paperless.
