Maruti Suzuki eVX Electric SUV To Launch Next Year With 550 Km Range

Maruti Suzuki has been looking at the EV space for a long time and currently offers only hybrids.

The production version of Maruti Suzuki eVX will hit the Indian roads soon and it will be an important launch considering that will be Maruti's first electric car. Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director, Sales & Marketing (MSIL), told ABP News that the eVX will be coming in its production specifications avatar by next year. The eVX may come with a new name and will be launching around FY 2024-25.

The eVX, which was shown at the Auto Expo in its concept car avatar, was recently revealed in a more production near avatar while retaining the concept car look. The production spec eVX will be about roughly the same size as the Grand Vitara with a length of 4300 mm while the range will be around 550 km with a 60kWh battery pack.

The crucial bit is the born electric architecture on a skateboard platform that will mean that the production spec eVX will come with a longer 2700 mm wheelbase along with plenty of room. This can be the most spacious Maruti Suzuki SUV.

The other important aspect is the localisation of the battery plus the car that will make the eVX competitive, price wise. Maruti will produce the eVX at its Hansalpur facility in Gujarat and there will also be a Toyota version spawn from it.

The carmaker has been looking at the EV space for a long time and currently offers only hybrids. The eVX can catapult to be one of it's most popular SUVs with interest levels in EVs being high right now although hybrids will also continue to be a key part of the figure product portfolio.
