Mahindra Thar 5-Door Might Get A New Name, To Make Global Debut On Independence Day

Along with India, the new SUV will also be exported to other markets and is strategically an important new car for Mahindra.

Mahindra will reveal it's highly anticipated Thar 5-door on Independence day this year.  The carmaker will unveil the new SUV in South Africa while it is expected to go on sale in 2024. Along with India, the new SUV will also be exported to other markets and is strategically an important new car for Mahindra.

 

It might also get a new name and not the Thar branding in order to separate itself from the Thar 3-door. The 5-door Thar will more than just a Thar with more seats and doors as quite a few changes have been done. The exterior design of the car will be  tweaked and have differences over the 3-door version.

 

Elsewhere, the interior would be more premium and get more features. Speaking of which the Thar 5-door will get a sunroof and a rear camera plus lots of new features along with new seats too. Luggage space will also be improved with the Thar 5-door version. Mahindra will also most likely tweak the suspension setup of the Thar 5-door.

 

 

What will remain the same would be the engine options as they are quite powerful to begin with. The Thar 5-door would be priced at a slight premium over the Thar 3-door while we will get to know the exact specifications and the details at its unveil in South Africa.

 

To be launched next year the new Thar 5-door has already been spied many times and it has revealed some new details like the above mentioned sunroof along with more added changes. This year the carmaker won't have any more launches as it is focussing on reducing the order backlog for many of its cars like the Scorpio N plus the Thar 3-door and the XUV700
