Hyundai Creta Petrol Facelift Variants And Engine Options Revealed

The new Creta turbo petrol will only come with one gearbox option and surprisingly only with a DCT and not a manual.

New Delhi: The new Creta facelift is due for launch on the 16th of this month but some interesting details have emerged in terms of how the variants are spread across and the gearbox options. It seems the 1.5l turbo petrol which is the top-end version will only come with a DCT automatic with paddle shifters with the SX(O) and SX(O) DT.

The 1.5l naturally aspirated petrol meanwhile is the only petrol which comes with all of the trim levels namely E, EX, S, S(O), SX, SX Tech and SX(O). The 1.5l petrol naturally aspirated also comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a CVT or iVT in Hyundai speak.

Hence, the new Creta turbo petrol will only come with one gearbox option and surprisingly only with a DCT and not a manual. It means that unlike competition you can only get it in top-end DCT spec. While the Seltos facelift gets an iMT gearbox also, it is interesting how Hyundai positions the Creta turbo as the fully loaded flagship trim.

You can also get the Creta CVT with the top-end trims too while giving a wider choice with this engine. The turbo petrol engine which will be offered again in the new Creta, is a 1.5l unit with 160hp and 250Nm, which interestingly comes with a manual in the new Verna and Alcazar but not in the new Creta.

Hence, while the reach of the turbo petrol would be a bit limited with the new Creta, we hope it is priced aggressively. As of now, we await more details on the Creta features and exact specifications with our first drive review of the car coming soon also.
