Festive Season Demand Spurs SUV Sales: Know Top Performers

Close on the heels of the Nexon is the Brezza which continues its roaring popularity in India with sales of 16,050 units despite its single petrol powertrain.

SUVs continue to be the flavour of the season as the current festive season has spurred further growth for this genre. SUVs continue to be the most desirable segment and almost all SUV sales have increased with new launches increasing demand.
 
The biggest gainer is the new Tata Nexon which has gone on to be the best selling SUV in India in October 2023 with sales of 16,887 units and the new version with the sharper design seems to have increased sales. Close on the heels of the Nexon is the Brezza which continues its roaring popularity in India with sales of 16,050 units despite its single petrol powertrain.

After the Brezza, it is Tata Motors Punch again which continues its stellar run with sales of 15,317 units. For Mahindra, the Scorpio brand is its most popular and the new Scorpio N is the highest selling premium SUV within the sub 25 lakh space with combined sales of 13,578 units.

Of course, a consistent performer like the Hyundai Creta also comes here and while there is a new version coming next year, the current Creta is still going great guns with sales of 13,077 units. The other big gainer is the Seltos whose demand has shot up since the launch of the new version as it has sold 12,362 units.

Hyundai and Maruti come up next with sales of its sub compact SUVs like the Venue and Fronx. The Venue had sales of 11,581 units while the Fronx did 11,357 units.
 
Overall auto sales saw 18% increase in overall auto retail during the Navratri '23 period.
 
SUVs continue to be the preferred choice for buyers here since half of the top 10 best selling cars in India are SUVs.
