Delhi government has issued a major order, giving relief to taxi drivers. According to this, drivers will no longer have to pay custody and parking charges on seized vehicles till September 30.

The Transport Department of the Delhi government will now release the seized vehicles without custody and parking charges. The Transport Department has issued an order in this regard. This exemption will be given by the government till September 30.

According to the Delhi government, the system has been put in place so that people do not face any problems during the Coronavirus pandemic. Till September 30, any vehicles that have been seized for violation of traffic rules will be released without penalty and parking charges.

Such an arrangement had been demanded by auto taxis for quite some time. That's why the government is now implementing it. Auto union members complain that a hefty sum of money is collected from drivers after the taxi is seized. One-day parking charge is also around Rs 400. Taxi drivers used to suffer a lot for such actions, but now the government's decision will provide some relief to them.

Validity Of Documents Increased

In addition, the Transport Department has also issued orders regarding the validity of documents of vehicles. According to this order, the validity of the expiring vehicle documents will be extended till September 30. Earlier, the Central Government has also increased the validity of such documents.

The Union Ministry has said that registration fees or registration renewal fees for electric vehicles will be waived. This means that if you buy a new electric vehicle, you won't have to pay a registration fee for it. Not only that, upon expiry of RC you need not pay any renewal fee.
