Shani Pradosh Vrat 2023 On July 1 — Know Importance Of The Day, Auspicious Vrat Puja Time

Shani Pradosh Vrat Shubh Muhura: By observing this fast, Lord Shiva gets happy and Shani Dosha is removed.

Pradosh Vrat, also known as the Trayodashi fast, is observed on both the Krishna Paksha and Shukla Paksha of every month. The specific time between sunset and nightfall is referred to as Pradosh Kaal. During this period, Lord Shiva is worshipped as part of the Pradosh fast. It is believed that Lord Shiva performs his divine dance, known as the Rajat Bhawan, in Mount Kailash during Pradosh. The purpose of observing the Pradosh fast is to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva.

The name and significance of Pradosh vary across different regions and days. When the Pradosh fast falls on a Saturday, it is known as Shani Pradosh fast. The last Pradosh fast of the Ashadha month will be observed on July 1. On this day, Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva are worshipped together. According to the Puranas, observing this fast brings blessings of good health and longevity.

By observing the Shani Pradosh fast, one can please Lord Shiva and mitigate the effects of Shani Dosha. Worshipping Lord Shiva during an auspicious time on Shani Pradosh is believed to bestow the blessings of having children and fulfilling all desires.

Here are the auspicious timings for Pradosh Vrat Puja:

Shani Pradosh Puja Muhurat: from 07:23 pm to 09:24 pm
Labh - Unnati Muhurat: from 07:23 pm to 08:39 pm

The worship procedure for Shani Pradosh fast is as follows:

During the Pradosh Kaal in the evening, which is considered auspicious for worship, take a bath one hour before sunset and wear clean clothes. Make all the necessary preparations for the ritual worship. After bathing, commence the puja during the auspicious time in the evening. Perform abhishek (ritual bath) of the Shivling with cow's milk, curd, ghee, honey, and Gangajal. Apply white sandalwood paste to the Shivling and offer Belpatra, Madar flowers, Bhang, and other ritualistic offerings. Conclude the worship by performing the aarti.

Observing the Shani Pradosh fast holds great significance. Devotees are rewarded with immense blessings by observing this fast, as it pleases Lord Bholenath and alleviates the sorrows of the devotees.
