Buddha Purnima 2024: In Hinduism, the day of Vaishakh Purnima is considered very important. It was on this day that Lord Gautam Buddha was born. Therefore, this date is also celebrated as Buddha Purnima. This year, Vaishakh Purnima is being celebrated today, which is May 23rd, Thursday. It is believed that on the day of Vaishakh Purnima, Lord Vishnu incarnated as Mahatma Buddha. Here are a few things that you should do on this day which is believed to alleviate poverty.

• On the day of Vaishakh Purnima, worship Mata Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu according to the rituals. During worship, offer 11 yellow cowries to Goddess Lakshmi. If you don't have yellow cowries, apply turmeric to white cowries and offer them to Goddess Lakshmi. Then tie them in red cloth and keep them in your safe. Doing this removes financial difficulties.
• On the day of Vaishakh Purnima, offer milk, makhana, and saffron kheer to Mata Lakshmi. Offer this prasad to her worshipping her at night. The next day, after bathing, consume this kheer as prasad. This blesses with wealth and prosperity from Mata Lakshmi.
• Take water in a copper vessel and add a little turmeric to it. Sprinkle it around both sides of the main door of the house. This dispels negative energy from the house and invites the presence of Mata Lakshmi. Donating a broom in the temple of Lakshmi Mata on this day is considered auspicious.
• The worship of the peepal tree is also considered very auspicious on Vaishakh Purnima day. It is believed that on this day, Gautam Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree. So, the worship of the peepal tree on this day is considered of special importance.
• To please Mata Lakshmi on this day, light 11 or 108 ghee lamps and place them in front of the idol of Mata Lakshmi. Chant the 'Lakshmi Mantra' while lighting the lamps.
