7 Things That Must Be In Your Hands While Listeing To Vrat Katha:

While listening to the Ahoi Ashtami story, women should keep the following seven grains in their hands- which are seven kinds of grains. After the puja, these grains should be fed to a cow. Ahoi Ashtami fast is observed by mothers for the long life and good health of their offspring. Therefore, when you hear or perform the Ahoi Ashtami story, make sure to have your children sitting with you.

Ahoi Ashtami 2023 Vrat Katha:

In ancient times, there was a wealthy man who had seven sons and seven daughters-in-law. One of his daughters-in-law had returned to her maternal home during Diwali. On Diwali, to prepare the house for painting, all the daughters-in-law went to the forest to fetch soil. Coincidentally, at the same place in the forest, a Sahu (a trader) with his seven sons was living. While they were digging, the daughter-in-law of the wealthy man accidentally killed one of the Sahu's sons with her hoe. In anger, Sahu said, "I will curse you by binding your womb."

Hearing this, the daughter-in-law of the wealthy man pleaded with her sisters-in-law, asking them to bear the curse in her place. The youngest sister-in-law agreed to bear the curse and soon, her children started dying one by one, seven days later. After all the sons died, the daughter-in-law approached a priest and asked him the reason. The priest advised her to serve Surhi, a type of sacred cow. Surhi, satisfied with her service, took her to Sahu.

Sahu, pleased with the daughter-in-law's service, blessed her with seven sons and seven daughters-in-law. The blessings of Sahu made the daughter-in-law's household filled with sons and daughters-in-law. In this way, Ahoi Ashtami signifies the transformation of adversity into blessings.
