Former United Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister & Ex-Tamil Nadu Governor Rosaiah Passes Away At 88

He has also served as an MLA and MP from the Congress party in his political life spanning over 50 years. 

Chennai: Former Chief Minister Of united Andhra Pradesh and former Tamil Nadu Governor Konijeti Rosaiah passed away in Bengaluru in the wee hours of Saturday. He was 88 years at the time of his death.

According to a report on ABP Nadu, Rosaiah served as Karnataka Governor for two months in 2014 while as the Governor of Tamil Nadu for five years between 2011 and 2016. 

He has also served as an MLA and MP from the Congress party in his political life spanning over 50 years. 

Rosaiah was born in Guntur of Andhra Pradesh on June 4, 1933 and from an early age, he started showing interest in politics.

He started his political career as an MLA in 1968 from Andhra Pradesh and he served as an MLA multiple times till 2004 in Andhra Pradesh. He also worked closely with Prime Ministers including Jawarharlal Nehru. He held several Ministerial portfolios in the Congress-led government and was well-known for his role as Finance Minister.

In 1998, he was also elected as an MP from Narasaraopet in Andhra Pradesh. 

For a short term, Rosaiah served as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in 2009 after the death of the sitting Chief Minister YS Rajashekhara Reddy. He was also credited for his role in handling floods in October 2009. However, he resigned from the post in 2010 after citing his health condition. 

After his long journey serving as an MLA and MP, he was appointed as the Governor of Tamil Nadu in 2011.
