Karnataka: Radar Shifts To Int'l Medical Meet Held In Bengaluru After Doctor Tests Positive For Omicron

However, the organizer said that the meet was not attended by any more than 60 healthcare professionals with the remaining international professionals attending through online means.

Chennai: Amid Omicron threat, the radar of Karnataka officials have shifted to an international medical conference held in Bengaluru from November 19-21 since three doctors who took part in the event tested positive for COVID-19. Of the three members, one of them tested positive for Omicron variant of the novel coronavirus while the two others tested positive for Delta variant of the virus.

According to a report on Times of India, an annual international conference was held by Indian College of Cardiology between November 19-21 and the doctor who tested positive for Omicron attended the event a day before showing symptoms of the virus.

Speaking to Times of India, one of the organizers of the event said, the doctor attended the meet only for a couple of hours on November 20 and started to show COVID-19 symptoms the next day. However, the virus usually starts to show symptoms only after 5-10 days of incubation.

Doctor Says 'He Is Fine'

Meanwhile, the Bengaluru doctor who tested positive for the Omicron variant of COVID-19 said that he is absolutely fine and under isolation at a hospital in Bengaluru. He said, he has body aches and mild fever but no breathing or oxygen-related issues. However, the doctor said that more than the Omicron infection he is saddened by the stigma of having his home sealed.

On the other hand, his wife and children are under quarantine at their home. His wife tested positive for COVID-19 but their children tested negative in the RT-PCR test. The genome sequencing result of the doctor’s wife and his contacts are pending.
