Elections 2024: Several Millionaires In AP Battle. TDP's Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar Leads With Rs 5,705 Cr Assets

Predominantly, the wealthy candidates hail from the primary opposition party TDP with the list comprising industrialists, businessmen and actors.

In the simultaneous elections for Andhra Pradesh Assembly and Lok Sabha, several multimillionaires are vying for seats. Leading this group is Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) candidate from the Guntur Lok Sabha constituency. With family assets surpassing Rs. 5,705 crore, Sekhar potentially stands as the wealthiest candidate across the nation.

Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar is making his electoral debut in the May 13 election, bringing his expertise as the founder and CEO of 'UWorld', a medical professional based overseas. Originally hailing from Burripalem village in Guntur district, Sekhar earned his MBBS degree from Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad in 1999 before pursuing post-graduation in the US.

The doctor, a 48-year-old, holds an M.D. in internal medicine from Geisinger Medical Centre in Danville, Pennsylvania. He has previously served as a faculty member at Johns Hopkins University and currently practices as a physician.

Predominantly, the wealthy candidates hail from the primary opposition party TDP, with the list comprising industrialists, businessmen, and actors.

TDP president and former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who is running for re-election from the Kuppam Assembly constituency in Chittoor district, has disclosed his family's assets totaling Rs. 931.83 crore. The major portion of this wealth, amounting to Rs. 895.47 crore, is attributed to his wife Bhuvaneshwari.

Over the past five years, the couple's assets have seen a significant growth of 39%, rising from Rs. 668 crore in 2019.

Chandrababu Naidu's brother-in-law and Tollywood actor N. Balakrishna has declared family assets totaling approximately Rs. 483 crore. Over the past two years, his assets have seen a remarkable growth of 67%, rising from their previous valuation in 2019.

Balakrishna, the son of TDP founder and former chief minister N. T. Rama Rao, is vying for re-election to the Assembly from Hindupur for a third consecutive term. Additionally, the 63-year-old is the father-in-law of Naidu's son and TDP general secretary, Nara Lokesh.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy stands as one of the wealthiest candidates with declared family assets amounting to Rs. 757.65 crore.

Over the past five years, the family assets of the YSR Congress Party chief have seen a significant growth of over 48%, rising from Rs. 510.35 crore in 2019.

Jana Sena leader and Tollywood actor-politician Konidala Pawan Kalyan possesses family assets totaling Rs. 164.52 crore. Notably, his assets have surged by over 215% in the past five years.
