Cyclone Asani: Gusty Winds, Rain Lash Parts Of Andhra Pradesh - Watch
Cyclone Asani: According to IMD, heavy showers are likely in the northern coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh on May 10 and 11.
Hyderabad: Asani cyclone in the Bay of Bengal has intensified and is slowly moving towards Kakinada-Visakhapatnam coast. However, cyclonic storms towards Visakhapatnam and Kakinada are very rare. In the last 200 years, only 3 hurricanes have hit the Visakhapatnam-Kakinada belt in the month of May.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy showers are likely in the northern coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh on May 10 and 11, especially in the East Godavari, Visakhapatnam, Vijayanagaram and Srikakulam districts. Some parts of West Godavari district are likely to receive heavy rainfall. Gusty winds are likely to blow at 40 to 50 kilometres per hour. The maximum speed is 60 km/hr along the north coast.

From May 10-12 North Andhra Districts Visakhapatnam, Vijayanagaram, Srikakulam, Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitaramaraj, Kakinada, East Godavari, Eluru, West Godavari Districts are likely to receive heavy rains. Strong winds are also expected on May 10 and 11. Guntur, Krishna, Prakasam and Bapatla districts will receive occasional showers, predicts regional meteorological department in the state.

Weather In Telangana
Under the influence of severe cyclonic storm Asani, rain and thunderstorms are expected to batter various district in Telangana during the next 3-4 days. According to Hyderabad Meteorological Department, Telangana is expected to receive a thunderstorm with lightning over the next two days.
