Andhra Pradesh: Earthquake Of 3.6 Magnitude Jolts Tirupati

New Delhi: An earthquake of magnitude 3.6 on the Richter scale jolted temple town Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh at 1.10 AM on Sunday.

The tremors were felt in the temple town as the quake occurred 85 km Northeast of Tirupati, according to the National Centre for Seismology.

"Earthquake of Magnitude:3.6, Occurred on 03-04-2022, 01:10:29 IST, Lat: 14.24 & Long: 79.90, Depth: 20 Km ,Location: 85km NE of Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh," the National Centre for Seismology tweeted.

Authorities have reportedly advised people to stay vigilant in the aftermath of the quakes despite there being no loss of property and no loss of lives in Tirupati.

Four months ago, in November 2021, torrential rains struck Tirupati, home to the renowned Sri Venkateswara Temple, leaving a trail of destruction. After witnessing massive floods, the death toll reached nearly 50 and the incessant downpour has left people in the Rayalseema region of Andhra Pradesh in a miserable state. The Tirupati floods wreaked havoc in the temple town and in the districts of Kadapa, Chitoor and Anantapur.
