Sessions may have met Russia's ambassador a third time: Comey

Washington D.C. [U.S.A.], June 9 (ANI): Former FBI director James Comey has told the Senate Intelligence Committee that Attorney General Jeff Sessions might have had a third interaction with Russia's Ambassador to the United States.

"The information is based in part on Russian-to-Russian intercepts where the meeting was discussed," sources familiar with the information tell CNN.

Earlier, CNN had reported that congressional investigators were examining whether "Sessions had an additional private meeting with Russia's ambassador during the presidential campaign."

The investigators were focussing on whether such a meeting took place on April 27, 2016, at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington D.C.

The then-candidate Donald Trump had to deliver his first major foreign policy address at the Mayflower Hotel back then.

The sources had also said that it was possible the Ambassador Sergey Kislayk was exaggerating the extent of the encounter.

The Justice Department had, however, said there was no meeting at the Mayflower.

"The facts haven't changed; the then-Senator did not have any private or side conversations with any Russian officials at the Mayflower Hotel," Department of Justice spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores said. (ANI)
