The Russian army will be broadening its Ukraine advance "from all directions" after Ukraine said it had repulsed an attack on capital Kyiv but "sabotage groups" remained in the city.
Western allies announced sweeping new sanctions against Moscow on Saturday, including kicking key Russian banks off the main global payments system, as a defiant President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Ukrainian forces were repelling Russian troops advancing on Kyiv.
The announcement came as fighting continued across Ukraine. In Kyiv occasional blasts and gunfire in the city on Saturday evening, but it was not clear exactly where it was coming from. The capital and other cities have been pounded by Russian artillery and cruise missiles.
Meanwhile, Air India's second evacuation flight from the Romanian capital Bucharest carrying 250 Indian nationals who were stranded in Ukraine landed at the Delhi airport in the early hours of Sunday, government officials said.
