Missing 2000 Note and its discovery; take a look at the report | Master Stroke ( 8 Nov 2022 )
Not a single Rs 2,000 note (2,000 Rupee note) has been printed for the last three years. This has been revealed in response to an RTI. An RTI was filed by news agency IANS. This revealed that no new notes of Rs 2,000 were printed during the years 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22. It was found from the RTI that RBI Note Mudran (P) Limited had printed 3,5429.91 crore notes of Rs 2,000 denomination in the financial year 2016-17. After this, a very less 1115.07 crore notes were printed in 2017-18 and only 466.90 crore notes were printed in 2018-19 by reducing it further. After the implementation of demonetisation in the year 2016, Rs 2,000 notes came into circulation.
