What India Should Do To Save Earth From Plastics And Pollution, And Prevent Heat Waves
Glaciers are melting, transportation, industries, fossil fuel burning, and stubble burning are causing air pollution, sea levels are rising, rendering people living in coastal regions vulnerable. The urban heat island effect is exacerbating heat waves. The lives of millions are threatened, and hence, it is important to find effective water management strategies, pollution control techniques, climate-resilient practices such as drought-resistant crops, alternatives to stubble burning, and materials that can be used for cooling infrastructure. In this interview to ABP Live, Ms Karuna Singh, Regional Director (Asia), earthday.org, discusses the status of renewable energy technologies in India, how air pollution can be controlled, the importance of quitting plastics, and building infrastructure that can cool the environment. She also shares why every citizen must take action before it is too late.
