Rau IAS Basement Case: Flood Incident Reaches Delhi High Court, Watch Video | ABP News
In response to the tragic deaths of three IAS aspirants due to flooding in their institute's basement, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has taken strong measures by sealing 13 illegal coaching centres in the Old Rajinder Nagar area. According to the Delhi government, a civic team inspected the central Delhi coaching hub and targeted those operating unlawfully from basements. The centres sealed include IAS Gurukul, Chahal Academy, Plutus Academy, Sai Trading, IAS Setu, Topper's Academy, Dainik Samvad, Civils Daily IAS, Career Power, 99 Notes, Vidya Guru, Guidance IAS, and Easy for IAS. These establishments were found in violation of regulations and were immediately sealed with notices posted. The Rau's IAS Study Circle, where the fatal flooding occurred, has also been sealed by the police. Last year, the MCD surveyed coaching centres following a fire at another institute in Mukherjee Nagar, and this survey is now being used to identify non-compliant centres. An MCD official stated that the institute owner was grossly negligent in maintaining safety, as the basement library was operating illegally with only one biometric-enabled entry and exit, which locked during the flood. The official noted that the students might have escaped if the exit had been accessible.
