Prime Minister Narendra Modi reacted to Calcutta High Court's ruling on scrapping of OBC certificates. He told ABP News: "West Bengal Chief Minister opposing the verdict is an insult to the court. Giving reservations to Muslims is an insult to the Constitution. However, it is to be noted that we are not against any religion but reservations should be allocated based on Constitution, not religion." He further added, "When the debate on reservation took place in the Constituent Assembly - Everyone agreed that reservation cannot be done on the basis of religion. There should not be reservations on the basis of religion The reservation I gave was not based on religion. Everyone accepted our reservation". "We have divided the country in the name of religion. There should be no reservation now based on religion. This is vote politics. About 77 communities were made OBC in Bengal. All this was done for votes. Everyone in Karnataka was made OBC overnight," the Prime Minister said.
