Pahalgam Attack: PoK Grows Hostile Against Pakistan, Protests in Gilgit Over Minerals

In the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, India is preparing for a major retaliatory action, signaling that the response could escalate soon. A crucial meeting is scheduled today at 11 AM between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. This discussion follows a meeting yesterday between Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, further indicating that India is taking strong steps in response to the attack. The attack has led to widespread anger across India, with protests erupting in various cities calling for severe action against the perpetrators. This sentiment has spread internationally, with Indian expatriates in Paris staging loud protests demanding accountability from Pakistan. Demonstrators carried the Indian flag and raised slogans against Pakistan, urging tougher measures. The terror attack, which occurred eight days ago, targeted the Ashmuqam Dargah in Pahalgam, a significant religious site, where visitors climb 275 steps to offer prayers. ABP News reporter Chitra Tripathi spoke with the local people, capturing their reactions to the ongoing situation and the aftermath of the attack. The situation in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) has also become tense, with protests in Gilgit over the controversial mining of minerals.
