Noida Burning: Workers’ Wage Protest Turns Violent in Phase 2

A major workers’ protest in Noida Phase 2, Uttar Pradesh, turned violent as employees demanding higher salaries clashed with police. The protest, ongoing for three days, escalated when workers vandalized property, set vehicles on fire, and engaged in stone pelting. Police intervened with tear gas and mild force to disperse the crowd, but tensions remain high with intermittent clashes continuing. Several workers have been detained, and heavy police deployment, including paramilitary forces, is in place. Workers allege exploitation, claiming long working hours of up to 12 hours daily for low wages around ₹12,000, along with fake salary slips and strict penalties for minor delays. Some workers have started leaving the city out of fear due to the deteriorating situation. Meanwhile, similar protests have erupted in Sector 62, Noida, and even spread to Faridabad’s industrial areas, where workers of the same company are also demanding better pay and working conditions. Authorities are attempting to restore normalcy while negotiations remain uncertain.
