On Saturday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the family of a doctor who was brutally assaulted and murdered at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. During the visit, she inquired about the family's well-being and stated that if the police fail to resolve the case by next Sunday, it will be handed over to the CBI. The Chief Minister had previously announced strict punishment for the accused. Meanwhile, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra called for swift and decisive action from the West Bengal government regarding the alleged rape and murder of the female doctor. She emphasised that workplace safety for women is a significant issue in India, requiring concerted efforts to address.
