President Ebrahim Raisi died on Sunday in a helicopter crash while travelling near the border with Azerbaijan. Iran Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian was also killed in the crash. Iranians gathered at Valiasr Square in central Tehran on Monday to mourn President Ebrahim Raisi, who died in a helicopter crash on Sunday. Women mourn Iranian president Raisi in Tehran. Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, announced a five-day public mourning period on Monday. Iranians attend a mourning ceremony organised at Musalla Mosque, Tabriz, for President Ebrahim Raisi and others killed in the helicopter crash. Raisi had been scheduled to inaugurate a project at the Tabriz oil refinery and was on his way there when the crash occurred.
