Heavy snowfall shuts down highways; tourists face trouble
Heavy snowfall has been reported in the hilly regions including Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh because of an intense Western Disturbance (WD) in the first week of January. After major snowfall on Friday, January 7, several highways and roads in Himachal Pradesh were shut down. However, army personnel were seen standing strong in the snow winds for the nation.
