Explosion in Bhubaneswar: Two Dead While Making Crude Bomb

Panic spread in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, after a powerful explosion occurred while crude bombs were allegedly being manufactured illegally. The incident took place on January 27, 2026, in the Sundarpada area’s Azad Nagar locality, under the jurisdiction of Airfield Police Station. According to police, some individuals had rented a house in the area and were attempting to make crude bombs on the rooftop. During the process, a sudden explosion occurred, shaking the entire neighborhood and creating chaos. CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced, clearly showing the blast on the terrace. Two people died in the explosion, including the main accused, identified as Shahnawaz Malik, and his mother. Two others were seriously injured. Police stated that Malik had multiple criminal cases pending against him.Following the blast, screams and panic gripped the locality, and one person’s clothes reportedly caught fire due to the explosion. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the full extent of the illegal activity and possible links to other criminal cases.
