Election Process: Strong room seals opened, EVMs moved for counting

West Bengal election counting is being conducted across 77 counting centres, where results for 293 assembly seats will be declared (excluding one seat in South 24 Parganas, where re-polling will be held on 21 May). Counting will take place in multiple rounds ranging from 10 to 27 per centre, making the process long and closely watched throughout the day. The segment highlights the high political tension between TMC and BJP, with both voters and candidates anxiously awaiting results. Concerns about anti-incumbency against the ruling TMC are discussed, though experts differ on whether a strong “wave” against the government is visible this time. Anecdotal voter feedback suggests mixed sentiments, including fear and alleged pressure influencing voting behavior. Meanwhile, the counting process begins with strong room seals being opened, and EVMs, postal ballots, and VVPAT units being carefully brought out under strict security. Overall, the atmosphere is highly charged as counting officially begins and results are awaited.
