CBSE OSM Scanning Row: Technician Reveals Students, Software Glitches Behind Evaluation Chaos

Fresh controversy has erupted over the CBSE Class 12 evaluation process after a technician involved in answer sheet scanning alleged major flaws in the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. In an exclusive interaction, the technician claimed that a large portion of the scanning work was handled by students and freelancers, many of whom were still pursuing graduation and had little professional experience. According to the revelations, the role assigned to them was limited to scanning and uploading answer sheets, not checking or evaluating copies. The technician further alleged that the software used for scanning was poorly designed and frequently crashed during operations. He claimed the system struggled to process answer sheets smoothly, causing repeated disruptions and leaving a significant number of papers pending. Due to technical failures in the OSM system, several answer sheets reportedly had to be shifted back to manual evaluation. The disclosures have intensified concerns raised by CBSE Class 12 students, many of whom have alleged that the digital marking process led to unexpectedly low scores. The technician also claimed that the scanning operations were outsourced through vendors and contractors, while CBSE officials allegedly did not directly supervise the centres where the work was being carried out. The revelations have triggered fresh questions over transparency, accountability, and quality control in one of India’s biggest school examination systems. As students and parents seek clarity, the controversy around the OSM system is likely to put pressure on authorities to review the digital evaluation process and address concerns regarding fairness and technical reliability in board examinations.
