Breaking: Ambala Highway Clash: DSP Among 7 Cops Hurt as Protest Turns Violent

Tensions escalated dramatically in Ambala after a large gathering at Gurdwara Sri Panjokhra Sahib spilled onto National Highway 44, triggering a prolonged confrontation between protesters and Haryana Police. The highway remained blocked for nearly seven hours, severely disrupting traffic on the Delhi-Amritsar route. According to police, around 1,500–1,600 people had gathered over demands linked to an earlier FIR and action against GurSimran Mand. Talks were underway when a section of protesters allegedly moved onto the highway and began blocking traffic. Police said stone-pelting followed, prompting the use of force to clear the road. Lathi-charge and tear gas were used as the situation intensified. Several police personnel were injured during the clashes, with reports stating that a DSP was among those hurt. Some protesters were also injured amid the confrontation. The highway was eventually reopened after hours of disruption, while the unrest continued late into the night. The dispute is reportedly connected to an incident at Gurdwara Sri Panjokhra Sahib during Guru Parv on August 7. Protesters have alleged that GurSimran Mand, associated with the Anti-Khalistan Terrorist Front, drove a vehicle into a gathering of devotees despite restrictions on vehicle movement, allegedly leaving several people injured. An FIR was later registered against Mand, while three people were arrested in connection with an alleged attack on Mand and his son Bhavjot Singh.
