Uddhav Expels Subhash Wankhede from Party Just Before Maharashtra Elections
In a significant move ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena (UBT) has expelled former MP Subhash Wankhede from the party due to his involvement in anti-party activities. Wankhede’s expulsion follows the earlier removal of five other leaders, including former Bhivandi MLA Rupesh Mhatre and several district-level party leaders, for similar offenses. Uddhav Thackeray had issued a stern warning to rebel leaders to withdraw their independent nominations by November 4 or face strict action. While some leaders complied with the ultimatum, others remained firm in their decision to run independently. As a result, Shiv Sena (UBT) has taken strong disciplinary action against these leaders. The Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in a single phase on November 20, and the votes will be counted on November 23. This move by Uddhav Thackeray signals the party's zero-tolerance approach toward rebels and its commitment to maintaining discipline within its ranks as the state heads to the polls.
