Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024: Key Factors Behind NDA’s Resounding Victory | ABP News

The counting of votes for the Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand was held on November 23, three days after voting concluded in both the states. While the Mahayuti was fighting to retain power in Maharashtra, the opposition's MVA was laser focused on wresting the state from the ruling alliance. Meanwhile, in Jharkhand, the JMM-Congress alliance contested the Assembly polls in coalition to retain power, while the NDA, fought hard to come to power by overthrowing CM Hemant Soren's government. In a historic and massive win, the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance swept the Maharashtra polls, trouncing the Maha Vikas Aghadi with a landslide victory. However, in Jharkhand, the INDIA bloc retained the state, leaving no chance for the BJP to come to power. Mahayuti has won 230 of the 288 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly election, with the saffron party emerging as the single largest party, bagging 132 seats on its own. Mahayuti comprises of the BJP, Ajit Pawar’s NCP, and CM Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena. The BJP won 132 seats, Shinde Sena bagged 57 seats, and the NCP won 41. The MVA, which comprises of Congress, NCP-SP, and Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) managed to win merely 48 seats. Congress bagged 16 seats, Sena (UBT) 20, and Sharad Pawar's NCP 10. Two seats were won by Samajwadi Party. In Jharkhand, JMM bagged 34 seats while its ally Congress won 16. The BJP, on the other hand, won 21 seats.
