"The very severe cyclonic storm ‘Amphan’ over central parts of South Bay of Bengal moved north-northeastwards with a speed of 13 kmph during past six hours, intensified into an extremely severe cyclonic storm", said the Indian Meterological department. In the last few hours, the super cyclone has taken a rapid speed and is suspected to become a super cyclone in the forthcoming days for the Coastal areas of Bengal and Odisha. The government has been taking preventive measures and has deployed 20 teams of Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), 17 Teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and 335 units of Fire and Disaster Management as a preventive measure. The coastal districts have been put on alert and on 20th May heavy velocity winds coupled with the storm are supposed to be experienced in the area.
