People share their stories of how they fell prey to online fraud| Sansani

If you have received a message from Paytm intimating you to complete your KYC, without which the company would "hold" the amount in your account, then beware. Fraudsters have been calling Paytm customers to ask them to re-activate their KYC. IN such calls, these fraudsters tell the customer to install remote access apps like AnyDesk, TeamViewer, and QuickSupport to help them with the KYC process. Once the app is installed, they tell the customer to accept the permissions asked by the app and then ask for the unique address code that is generated within the app. This allows fraudsters to access the customer’s device remotely for them to monitor, exploit the phone data, and banking apps on the victim’s smartphone.
