Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan Seeks Report From Govt On Suicides & Medical Scam
Governor Tamilsai said it was a concern that those who achieved state level ranks would not get admissions to medical PG seats in the private colleges.
Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has ordered the state government on Thursday to provide a full report on the recent suicides in the state. The Governor also requested a detailed report on the medical PG seat blocking fraud from the vice-chancellor of Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS).
According to ABP Desam, the Governor directed the state government to submit a detailed report on the suicides of BJP activist Samineni Sai Ganesh in Khammam district and realtor-mother duo in Kamareddy district, after receiving representation from Telangana BJP leaders and social media reports on the recent suicides in the state.
Governor Tamilsai said it was a concern that those who achieved state level ranks would not get admissions to medical PG seats in the private colleges. The governor instructed officials to take steps to prevent students from being harmed.
It was reported a few days ago that management quota seats were being sold in colleges under the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences. Authorities identified a total of 45 suspicious applications.
The Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences has 33 medical colleges. There are 9 government, 20 private and 4 minority medical colleges in the state. These colleges have 2,300 PG seats, while the management quota has 390 seats.
While examining the continuing admission process, university officials discovered certain discrepancies in the merit list involving 45 candidates (seats were blocked in the names of students) who had requested counselling for admission into postgraduate courses offered by private medical colleges.
The university then sent letters to such individuals inquiring if they had applied. However, most students stated that they had not sought admission at the KNRUHS.
