Justice Alok Aradhe Sworn In As Chief Justice of Telangana High Court

Justice Aradhe succeeds Chief Justice Bhuyan, who has since been elevated as a judge of the Supreme Court.

Justice Alok Aradhe was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court on Sunday in a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Hyderabad. The oath of office was administered by Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan in the presence of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. During the swearing-in ceremony, the High Court Registrar read out the warrant issued by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, on July 18, appointing Justice Alok Aradhe as Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court. CM KCR, his Cabinet colleagues, High Court judges, prominent persons from the judiciary, public representatives and bureaucrats attended the event.

Justice Aradhe succeeds Chief Justice Bhuyan, who has since been elevated as a judge of the Supreme Court.

Justice Aradhe was born in 1964 in Raipur, which was then part of Madhya Pradesh. He pursued his B.Sc. and LL.B. degrees and began his practice in the Madhya Pradesh High Court at Jabalpur in 1988. He specialized in Civil, Constitutional, arbitration, and Company Matters, and in April 2007, he was designated as a senior advocate.

On December 29, 2009, he was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court and later transferred to the Jammu and Kashmir High Court on September 16, 2016. During his tenure in Jammu and Kashmir, Justice Aradhe held prominent positions, including Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir State Judicial Academy and Executive Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir State Legal Services Authority.

On May 11, 2018, he took charge as the Acting Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court. Subsequently, he was transferred to the Karnataka High Court and sworn in as a judge on November 17, 2018. On July 3, 2022, he was appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court following the retirement of Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi, the Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court.

Justice Alok Aradhe's tenure as the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court will continue until April 2026.
